Welcome to the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Graduate Training Scheme.
Each year we take on approximately 12 graduates across the UK. The scheme provides training that will build on the theory you studied at university and give you the confidence, skills and experience to develop a lasting career with us.
Our graduates are seen as our General Managers of the future so there’s a spotlight on you, both in your hotel and throughout the business. There’s an expectation that you’ll progress through the ranks at an accelerated pace, and deal with a variety of challenges in a fast paced environment taking on management responsibility to become an effective leader.
This year’s scheme commences in September 2008 and is open to current employees who meet the criteria and external applicants.
Our 18 month graduate training scheme is designed for graduates with a degree (minimum 2:2) in either Hospitality Management or Leisure/Tourism Management who have the drive and ambition to succeed. We’re looking for individuals with passion for our industry and the potential to become our future General Managers.
The scheme is designed to provide graduates with the tools, skills and confidence to take up a management position at the end of the scheme. The scheme provides a solid grounding in generic operational disciplines with 6 months in Food & Beverage followed by 6 months in Rooms. The final 6 months is spent in specialist functions such as Finance and HR. This on the job training is supported by centrally run training courses and group project work.
We’ll give you training and support throughout the scheme whether it’s ‘on the job’ or on corporate training days. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experts at all levels and be able to demonstrate your talent by taking on individual projects to support your business.
